About Me
Welcome! I am so glad you’re here. I’m Candace. Respiratory Therapist by day and caregiver to all things special by night.
I started my blog, The House of Misfits to share my love for senior dogs, special needs pets, and chickens. Specifically, cross beak chickens. My goal is to help people better understand their pets and improve the quality of life pet parents and their companions.
My partner, Leslie, and my daughter, Ember, share my passion for animal care, and together we care for a diverse group of animals that include 43 chickens, two cats, and four dogs. We believe that every animal deserves a chance at life, even those that have been abandoned or neglected. “The Misfits”, is what we call ourselves because we are all suffer from chronic illness and understand how hard it is to live a “normal life” when you’re not “normal”.
As a Respiratory Therapist, I understand the importance of compassion and care, and I bring that same level of dedication to my work with animals. I hope that my blog can help others to learn more about their pets and inspire them to make a positive impact in the lives of animals in need.
Please reach out to me if you’ve got questions, comments, or tips that you would like to share. I would love to hear from you.
Enjoy your stay and consider coming back.
