Meet The Misfits

Addie. Old as can be but still kicking. This little girl runs the house. She breaks up the fights and eats whoever’s food she feels like eating. If we were in danger, Addie would be the one to limp on over and save our lives, no doubt.

Cocoa. She was a chocolate Lab once upon a time, but over her 12 years, her Vitiligo has turned her into a speckled beauty. She’s a lover of balls and kisses and when she gets scared or cold, her teeth chatter.

Mila. Leslie’s 7 year-old girl. She’s a big ole’ couch potato but when a truck comes down the road, watch out. She’s on Prozac because her rage matches her mama’s. Imagine that.

Lily. My deaf 12 year-old girl. She’s adventurous and refuses to be contained. We love to chase behind her, down the road, yelling while knowing she can’t hear a word we’re saying. She’s smart as a whip and she’d take over the world if she had thumbs.

Pancake. Oh, my Pancake. My pride and joy. This chicken came to me from the local feed store. They said she was going to die, so we took her home to love on her until she passed. We are still loving on her. She’s got a cross beak and can’t eat on her own so I tube feed her twice a day. She’s our house chicken and knows no other way.

Grandma Dog. We found her as a stray on the streets, starving to death and terrified. Our plan was to find her owner, but no one stepped up. This old girl is living her last days inside, fed and loved. She may be old and slow, but she’s got the best zoomies in town.

The rest of the flock. Including two turkeys. These birds bring us so much joy. We love to spend hours outside with them, just watching them do chicken things. Everyone earns their name based on their personality. We give them a great life and they repay us by hiding their eggs from us. It’s a good balance.

Bunbun. King of the world and owner of this house. Will poop in our shoes if we bring another animal home. A lover when he wants to be. Say’s “hello” when he wants to go outside.

Thomas (right) and Kittykitty(left). KittyKiity was a stray who showed up on the coldest night of the year. She’s got neurological problems, but we still love her. Thomas was given to us by someone who didn’t want him. He’s the only cat I know that can’t land any jumps.

My sweet girlfriend. Leslie saved my life. Without her love and support I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am grateful for everything she has done and continues to do. I could not be happier than I am with her.

My sassy 8 year-old, Ember. This kid keeps me on my toes. She is a joy to be around and has the cutest personality I’ve ever seen. She has a big heart and is going to make the world a better place.
